The American Freedom Convoy of truckers were expected to be driving through Jefferson County on Mar. 5. The nationwide planned convoy started out in California and is scheduled to arrive in Washington D.C. throughout the duration of the weekend in preparation for a Mar. 7 planned protest. As the convoy passes through small towns and big cities, other truckers are ready to join and merge with the convoy line.
The organizers of the convoy have said the event has been planned as a peaceful protest with no encouragement of or intention for violence. The main objective is to show resilience against the government mandates that have taken the freedom away from American citizens.
On Feb. 26, Crystal Reed stood atop the Lloyd I-10 overpass holding an American flag and waving to truck drivers passing through Jefferson County. Her husband, Mike Reed, held a Liberty or Death 2nd Amendment flag high above his head. “We are lined up and standing on bridge overpasses all the way to Live Oak,” she explained. They will also be participating in a group organized rally on Mar. 5 to support the trucker convoy. “We have one person assigned to each overpass,” Reed continued to explain... the plan is to ensure the organization of the event runs smoothly, “every overpass will be full of people!”
This is not just a convoy… the momentum of growth has gained national public attention and appears to have turned into a movement. It has acquired the support of many American citizens who have spontaneously joined the truck line in their own personal vehicles.
A request for assistance from the Florida National Guard-—
In preparation for the American Freedom Convoy, the Biden Administration had requested Florida’s national guardsmen to arrive for the State of the Union speech with the intentions of them staying to work through the duration of the convoy protest. They would be unarmed under the expectations to control and direct traffic. Unarmed? Direct traffic? Is this how our American military should be utilized? No wonder Governor DeSantis “rejected the request!”
On Feb. 28, Governor DeSantis announced: “Last week, the Biden Administration requested the assistance of State National Guards to deploy to Washington D.C. I have rejected this request— there will be no Florida National Guard sent to D.C. for Biden’s State of the Union.”
If everything goes as planned, the Florida soldiers will arrive back home before the American Freedom Convoy protest takes place.
