Former Aucilla Christian Academy (ACA) Lady Warrior and current Troy University Trojans softball standout, Kelly Horne, was recently listed as one of the nation's “Top 100” players in Division One.
The list was compiled by the d1softball.com website and ranks the top players in Division One college softball. According to the website, Horne came in at #83, in the pre-season listing.
Horne, an infielder, is listed as a senior on the Trojans roster. She graduated, with honors, with an undergraduate degree in sports management, from the school, located in Troy, Ala. Currently, she is working toward a master's degree in sports management. She has gained numerous awards and recognition while at Troy, including being named to the All-region team by the National Fast-pitch Coaches Association (NFCA) during the 2022 season, two-time NFCA South Region First Team Second Baseman, two-time Sunbelt Conference All-tournament Team, 2022 Sunbelt Conference First Team, two-time Sunbelt Conference Player of the Week, top five ranked second baseman by d1softball.com; holds Troy University records for walks, on-base percentage and doubles. She was granted a medical red shirt during her freshman year, due to a leg injury. She was allowed an extra year of eligibility from the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) from the 2020 season, when many schools did not have athletic competition, due to COVID.
During her career with the Trojans, Horne has amassed a total of 141 hits, with 28 home runs and 111 runs batted in (RBIs). Horne's career batting average sits at .318, with an on-base percentage of .443,while her fielding average is an impressive .965.
Kelly is the daughter of Kevin and Nicole Horne, of Monticello.
