Lacola LaReda Vonshay Lewis was born to Brenda Thompson and Travis Brooks, Sr., on Oct. 27, 1987. “Cola,” as she was affectionately called, was always a very smart girl. She attended the public schools of Jefferson County, Fla., and graduated with what she would call “the best class to ever do it,” the Class of 2006. Cola went on to receive her Associate’s Degree from Keiser University in medical assisting, with a special license in phlebotomy. As a traveling phlebotomist, she was employed by Scarlett Health until her untimely demise.
Cola gave her life to Christ at an early age under the pastoring of the late Elder George Siplin at St. Tabernacle Church of God in Unity, where she served on the praise dance team, in the choir and as a youth usher. On Sept. 18, 2022, at 1:46 p.m., Cola decided that she would answer the Master’s call.
In 2006, she met Ryan Lewis and fell in love. In April of 2012 they were joined in holy matrimony.
She leaves to cherish her unforgettable memories a husband, Ryan Lewis of Tallahassee, Fla.; three beautiful daughters who were her world, Kymani Wesley, Ariyana Lewis and Rayne Lewis, all of Tallahassee, Fla.; two stepsons that she loved like her own, Xavier and Javaris Lewis, both of Tallahassee, Fla.; a devoted and loving mother and father, Brenda Thompson and Travis Brooks, Sr., both of Tallahassee, Fla.; sisters, Breterrica White Colson (Mooreese) of Jacksonville, Fla., Kierra White, Ashli Washington, Shanice Brooks and Lakeisha Coe, all of Tallahassee, Fla., Chante Brooks, of Texas, Sharenda Brooks, of Tampa, Fla., Shonkeira Brooks and Kendra Hill, both of Orlando, Fla., and Waneshia Thompson of Jacksonville, Fla.; brothers, Khalil Robinson and Jayden Brooks of Tallahassee, Fla., Travis Brooks, Jr. of Iowa, Shraze Hill of Monticello, Fla., and Jacarri Hill of Orlando, Fla.; aunts, Stephanie Randall (Wayne), Crystal Bellamy, and Daisy Mays, all of Tallahassee, Fla., Lacreshia Reeves (Justin) and Carolyn Pittman, both of Atlanta, Ga., Marva Woodson and Marilyn Brooks, both of Monticello, Fla., and Sandra Allen (James) of Jacksonville, Fla.; uncles, Terry Thompson, George White, and Arnez Paul, all of Tallahassee, Fla., Hosea Brooks, Wilbur Ellis, Sr., Tony Ellis and Charlie Randall, all of Monticello, Fla., Vanrick Paul of Tennessee, Clyde Randall, Jr. of Orlando, Fla., and Calvin Randall of Atlanta, Ga.; mother-in-law, Mashelle Hawkins of Tallahassee, Fla.; three sisters-in-law, Kia Mitchell, Shana Frame and Jayden Moore, all of Tallahassee, Fla.; two brothers-in-law, James Moore of Tampa, Fla., and Rodney Lewis, Jr. of Atlanta, Ga.; godmothers, Doshia (Benji) Wiggins of Monticello, Fla., and Cassandra Russell of Thomasville, Ga.; godparents, Darryl and Cynthia Maxwell; honorary parents who loved her as their own, George and Daisy King; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great aunts, great uncles and friends.
