The Aucilla Christian Academy (ACA) Lady Warriors only had one senior to salute for their annual Senior Day on Tuesday, April 19, but the Lady Warriors honored Isabella Gray well with a 9-0 win over rival Munroe High School.
After holding the Lady Bobcats scoreless in the top of the first inning, the Lady Warriors put one run on the boards. Then, in the bottom of the second inning, the Lady Warriors cranked up the bats and chalked up seven unanswered runs. The Lady Bobcats tightened up their defense and allowed only one more run in the bottom of the fifth inning, while the Lady Warriors managed to keep the Lady Bobcats off of the home dish.
The Lady Warriors were able to build an on-base percentage of .412 with a total of nine base hits. Megan Wellman went one-for-three at the plate, with two runs batted in (RBIs). Madison Rudd had one hit in four at-bats, with one RBI. Lauren Davis had one hit in her four at-bats, with one RBI. Marie Kelly accounted for the other Lady Warrior RBI.
Lady Warrior Emma Vickers was extremely efficient in the pitcher's circle, holding the Lady Bobcats to a team batting average of just .095, giving up just two hits, three walks and fanning 12 batters.
With the win, the Lady Warriors improved their season record to 10-3, challenging North Florida Christian for the top spot in the Class 2A District One standings. The Lady Warriors will compete for a district title during the district tournament, set to take place in Tallahassee during the first week of May.
