On Thursday, March 25, the Madison County High School varsity softball team traveled to Aucilla to face the Aucilla Christian Academy Lady Warriors. The Cowgirls turned in an explosive 10-run fifth inning on their way to a 17-3 rout of the Lady Warriors. After the first two innings, the Cowgirls held a convincing 6-0 lead. The Lady Warriors were able to cut into the Cowgirls' lead in the third inning, scoring two unanswered runs. Each team scored one run each in the fourth inning. Then, in the fifth inning, the Cowgirls turned up the heat, scoring 10 runs in the top of the fifth. The Lady Warriors were held scoreless in the bottom half of the fifth inning to wrap up the win for the Cowgirls.
Ali Townsend had one hit in her three trips to the plate, with two RBIs. Kaitee Roberts was credited with an RBI when she was walked with the bases loaded. Madison Rudd, Anna Lee Trest and Lena Kimmell also had hits for the Lady Warriors.
Emma Vickers went the distance in the pitcher's circle for the Lady Warriors. She yielded 14 hits, five earned runs and three walks. She also struck out three batters.
The Lady Warriors have three home games remaining in the 2021 season. On Thursday, April 8, the Lady Warriors will play the Lady Marauders of Maclay School, from Tallahassee. The next home game will take place on Thursday, April 15, against Ocala Christian. On Monday April 19, the Lady Warriors will play the Lady Lions of Leon High School. All three games have a start time of 4 p.m.
