The Aucilla Christian Academy (ACA) Lady Warriors varsity volleyball team swept the Red Flashes of Hilliard High School on Thursday, Oct. 20, to win the Class 1A District Five Championship.
In the District Five semi-final match, on Tuesday, Oct. 18, the Lady Warriors and the Cowgirls of Madison County High School (MCHS) met at ACA. The Warriors took the match in straight sets; 26-24, 25-10 and 25-17.
Then, the Lady Warriors faced the Red Flashes, who had defeated the Lady Trojans of Hamilton High School in their semi-final match. The Lady Warriors tallied 32 kill shots during the match, led by senior Lena Kimmell, with her 14 kill shots. From the service line, the Lady Warriors were very effective, led by junior Kaleah Donaldson and her seven aces. The Lady Warriors had a total of 10 aces and a 94.6 successful serve percentage.
The Lady Warriors finished their regular season with a 20-3 record. The Lady Warriors will now move on to the Region Three tournament. The Lady Warriors are the number one seed in the region tournament and will face the Red Flashes in a rematch on Thursday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m., in the ACA gymnasium.
