Our heavenly Father called Lamar Curtis Clark of Monticello, Fla., home on February 1, 2020. He was born on November 2, 1932 to Thomas B. and Susie Bell Clark.
He served in the U.S. Army, 1st Infantry Division, Sgt. 1st Class, from 1949 until 1956, and was stationed in Bamberg, Germany. He was employed with Southeastern Telephone Company for 11 years. After that, he owned and operated two service stations.
Curtis was a member of the First Baptist Church of Monticello, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school and training union director.
In his retirement he enjoyed family outings, golfing, fishing and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his parents; twin sister, Myrtis Fortner; brother, James Clark (Dora); and sister, Martha Smith. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Margita H. Clark; one son, Charles C. Clark; and one daughter, Cynthia C. Howell (Jeff); four grandchildren: Matthew Howell (Jessica), Scott Howell, Hannah Clark Swanson (Robert), and Gabriel Clark; and six great-grandchildren; brothers in law: John Fortner and Ondry Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church of Monticello on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2020, with a visitation at 10 a.m., a service at 11 a.m. and interment burial at Roseland Cemetery following services.
