This weekend, the United Force of Jefferson County will be holding their Second Annual Free Coat Giveaway, and it's not too late to donate to this great cause!
The United Force of Jefferson County is a non-profit organization that has been serving the community for the last two years. Their “Back to School” outreach event that they held this August, during which they provided families with much-needed school supplies, was a great success, and this group of community advocates wants to keep the outreach going!
The members of this organization have been hard at work for the last two months, collecting donations that will be given away to individuals in the community that are in need of warmer clothing and are unable to purchase these items themselves. While they have collected over 100 coats already, they are still seeking donations.
In addition to coats, member Jamia Bradley says that the group is more than happy to accept jackets, hoodies, gloves and other items that can help keep families in the community warm. Anyone wishing to donate can contact the United Force of Jefferson County President Greg Cummings at (850) 510-7418 or Jamia Bradley at (850) 242-1560.
The United Force of Jefferson County currently has eight members, and is always accepting volunteers that wish to join their team. If you would like to volunteer or become a member, please contact one of the numbers above.
The Coat Giveaway will be held on Saturday, Jan. 7, at the Jefferson County Parks and Rec., located at 1380 Mamie Scott Dr. The event will be held in the second pavilion by the tennis court, and will begin at 9 a.m. until all the coats are gone.
