Legislators asked to name part of State Road 59 after late military hero

Lazaro Aleman ECB Publishing, Inc. Jefferson County officials recently acted to honor longtime resident and military hero Major John Leroy Haynes, who passed away on Nov. 14. On Thursday evening, Dec. 7, the Jefferson County Commission readopted a proclamation calling on state lawmakers to name a local section of State Road 59 in honor of Haynes. Several of Haynes’ friends, family members and contemporaries attended the brief ceremony in the commission chambers.
