Lemuel Clayton Evans

Lemuel Clayton Evans, 53, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Feb. 7, 2020.
Clay was raised at Nutall Rise on the Aucilla River.
He worked for the City of Tallahassee as a power plant maintenance mechanic and was a highly skilled welder. Clay was an avid outdoorsman who loved sharing his passion of hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He was raised to respect and honor the heritage of the outdoors and passed that on to his son, Tyler.
Clay was always willing to teach others, especially kids, the way of life that he excelled at. Clay enjoyed making memories and relaxing with family and friends at his hunting camp and spent a lot of time there.
As much as Clay loved hunting and fishing, he loved his family more. Jami and Tyler were his heart and soul. He will be missed more than words can express, but he will never be forgotten.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Margie Hartsfield.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Jami, and his son Tyler (Tiffany Kalnin) Evans, both of Lamont, Fla. He is also survived by his brother, Hank (Amy) Evans of Perry, Fla; sister, Amy (Michael) Hay of Wewahitchka, Fla.; his father, Bruce (Melody) Evans of Nutall Rise; and his two nieces: Kelli Evans of Perry, and Sara Brewer of Port St. Joe, Fla.
Visitation for Clay was held on Monday, Feb. 10, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Beggs Funeral Home Chapel in Monticello, Fla. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Feb. 11, at 11 a.m., also at Beggs Funeral Home Chapel, followed by burial at Walker’s Cemetery in Lamont.
