Leonard "Lenny" Cremeans, 82, of Monticello, Fla., passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, Sept. 6, surrounded by his loved ones. Lenny is survived by his spouse of 45 years, Mary Cremeans; his children: Leonard Cremeans, Greg Cremeans both of Lancaster, Ohio, Leanne Cremeans of Dallas, Texas, Vincent Cremeans (Marcie) of Carrollton, Texas, and Ben Cremeans (Emily) of Day, Fla.
He was a man of many skills, who worked mostly in precious metal plating and polishing (for Bronze Shoe and his parents’ business), and injection molding (for IRC, TRW, and Vernitron). He later advanced his education by attending Florida’s Broward Community College, where he majored in Electrical Engineering, and the Pinellas Vo-Tech A/C Mechanics Program and started his own air conditioning company.
Lenny homeschooled his youngest son from Pre-K through Grade 12, including driving him to Madison each week to attend his dual enrollment courses at North Florida Community College, which enabled his son to graduate high school with his Associates Degree. Many of the students remember him fondly as the “old man” that spent his time playing pool and conversing with others in the student activity center. He was also a devoted Scout Leader in Gulf Ridge Council, Troop #442, and Suwannee River Area Council, Troop #44.
He is remembered as a good man of few words who enjoyed life’s simple joys and spending time with his family. He enjoyed saltwater fishing, treasure hunting, and applauding the Florida sunset. His favorite saying was, “Have a Happy Forever.”
The family would like to express gratitude to Big Bend Hospice, and nurses Shelly, Holly, Sherry, and especially, Tammy.
Once he made it to Labor Day 2021, he decided to take the rest of eternity off. It was his dying wish to feed the fish. No services are planned, in lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to Big Bend Hospice at https://bigbendhospice.charityproud.org/Donate.
