Let’s not dismantle what has been accomplished at our schools
It was very disappointing to hear that at a recent school board meeting, Superintendent Eydie Triquet had a staff person present data that indicates that Jefferson County's School Children have not demonstrated proficiency in reading, math, and science. This is contrary to the Department of Education's recognition that the school moved from a F grade to a C grade in one year. This being the first year the school was under local control after five years of being controlled by Somerset Charter School. It was Superintendent Triquet who brought in Jackie Pons from Leon County to become the turnaround principal and Jefferson County was given two years to increase the school grade from an F. Mr. P
