It may be a good time to appreciate what a wonderful gift America is. I’m talking about the bedrock of thought, reason, philosophy and hard work that built the national concept and structure. Words like liberty and freedom were fluffy ideals at the time contemplated and debated by aristocratic thinkers. But our founding authors were self-made, owned personal libraries and connected to the people. The entire population came from and continued to live under an authoritarian rule in a colonial frontier country. Something new was taking hold across the land, a belief in self-government.
