Library gets $510,000 grant for math literacy

The Jefferson County Literacy Alliance – a partnership of the Jefferson County R.J. Bailar Public Library and the Florida Institute of Education at the University of North Florida – was recently awarded a $510,900 grant for its math literacy program.
Library Director Natalie Binder asked the Jefferson County Commission to approve the grant on Thursday, May 2. The funding, she said, came from a private foundation that preferred to remain anonymous, adding that the money would be distributed to the alliance in increments of $170,300 each Oct. 1 over a period of three years.
