Library scholarship awarded to Ashley Garcia

Linda Hamedani Contributor Ashley Michele Garcia was recently awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Friends of the Library of Jefferson County, Fla. She met all the requirements of the application and plans to finish her graduate degree in Information Science and Technology at Florida State University this year. The scholarship was given on the basis of her grades, commitment to working in Jefferson County and a beautiful essay about her journey toward higher education. The Friends of the Library Board acknowledged her resourcefulness of working various jobs in Monticello while providing a place for siblings to live when their parents could not provide a warm home for them.
