Living with psoriasis

Over two percent of the American population suffers from psoriasis, a painful, chronic skin disease that causes the skin to develop scaly, itchy patches. While these rashes can develop anywhere on the body, they are most commonly found on the knees, elbows, torso and scalp. Those who live with psoriasis can often feel self-conscious about and hindered by their skin condition, and while treatments are available, they only help to manage symptoms, as there is not yet a cure that has been developed.
Skin is the largest organ of the human body, and it serves to protect the body's other systems from external factors like temperature, bacteria and injury.
