The Tallahassee Democrat recently released their winter sports All-Big Bend Teams and both the boys and girls basketball teams include some recognizable names from our area.
Ethan Bass received “Honorable Mention” recognition for his play for the Aucilla Christian Academy (ACA) Warriors this season. Bass averaged 10.7 points and 3.8 rebounds per game during his sophomore season. Also receiving Honorable Mention accolades was Orient Livingston, a Madison County High School (MCHS) senior who averaged 12 points and six rebounds per game with the Cowboys. Another Cowboy, sophomore Labron Lee, who averaged 13 points and three rebounds per game, also received Honorable Mention recognition.
Local schools were also well represented on the All-Big Bend girls basketball teams. MCHS Cowgirl junior Jamiyah McKnight is included on the First Team girls basketball team. McKnight averaged 19.3 points and 5.8 rebounds per game this season. Senior Samantha Drawdy from ACA was also listed on the First Team. Drawdy averaged 21.5 points and two rebounds per game for the Lady Warriors. Cowgirl Nia Long, a senior, earned a spot on the Second Team All-Big Bend Girls Basketball Team. Long averaged 10.5 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. Three area girls received Honorable Mention recognition: Jefferson County's Christina Walker, who averaged 7.2 points per game; ACA's Lena Kimmell, a senior who averaged 7.2 points and 7.6 rebounds per game; and Lady Warrior Lauchlin Fagile, who averaged 8.1 points per game.
The spring sports All-Big Bend teams will be announced at a later date.
