Last month, members of local churches, Elizabeth A.M.E. and Union Bethel A.M.E. Church, enjoyed their 11th Annual Church Trip. This year, their journey took them to St. Louis, MO., and Louisville, KY.
Rev. Stefon Mcbride serves as pastor, and Leman Ulee again served as Group Coordinator for this year's trip.
The group set off on their trip in a 56-passenger charter bus from Astro Travel & Tours out of Tallahassee. They spent two nights in St. Louis, and enjoyed a boat ride at the Gateway Arch as well as exploration and tours of Busch Stadium, the Gateway Arch, Forrest Park, the City Museum, Missouri Botanical Museum and the National Blues Museum. In addition to the larger attractions, guests also enjoyed a variety of smaller activities, including visiting local malls and downtown areas.
For the next two days and nights, the group enjoyed a visit to Louisville, where they toured the Muhammed Ali Center, Churchill Downs, the Kentucky Derby and the Louisville Slugger. The vacationing group also were able to visit nearby Williamstown in Kentucky, where they were able to visit the Noah's Ark Replica. According to Leman, the replica was an amazing experience for the group, who spent a total of three hours exploring and touring it.
Overall, Leman mentioned that everyone had a great time, and the group is already looking forward to next year's trip. The Annual Church Trip for 2024 will take passengers to Canton/Cleveland, Ohio. Anyone who wishes to attend next year's trip is welcome to join! Affiliation with a church is not required, and Leman states, “we do not look at anyone as a stranger. We treat everyone like family on this trip.”
This annual trip has seen regular growth over the years, and Leman mentioned the possibility of having to charter two buses to accommodate everyone next year. Anyone wishing to join in can contact Leman Ulee at (850) 274-6268 for more information.
