Does your church affiliation have plans for reopening its doors for worship services, Bible studies, children's activities, other events or meetings?
If you would like the Monticello News to advertise your church's reopening plans, contact the News office at (850) 997-3568 to pass that information along.
• Elizabeth Baptist Church: On Sunday, May 17, church-doors opened for a Sunday morning worship service at Elizabeth Baptist Church (EBC), which is located at 4124 Bassett Dairy Rd. Masks were available for church members and visitors, and social distancing rules were followed according to the guidelines set by Gov. Ron DeSantis. EBC church services and sermons will continue to be posted online for those who prefer to remain at home for the time being.
• Central Church of Christ: According to Preacher/Teacher Steve Cordle, his Central Church of Christ, which is located on Cooper's Pond Road, has been meeting all-along. The church body is small enough that the congregation can practice social distancing without a problem. About half of the congregation has been meeting at the building and the other half of the members call in on Zoom. The Spanish ministry has prerecorded Sunday lessons and posts them to YouTube. For Wednesday night studies, everyone joins in through Zoom and there is also a Facebook Page with information on it. The church's Sunday morning worship services are held at 11 a.m.
• Monticello Church of Christ: The congregation continues to meet at 9:30 a.m. for an outdoor Sunday morning worship at 75 Skyline Place. Wednesday evening services are held at 7:30 p.m., at the church's location, at 475 S. Jefferson St. For updated weekly information on where the congregation will be meeting outdoors, contact Pastor Nathan Peeler at (615) 483-8950.
• Christ Episcopal Church: For the time being, church meetings continue to remain on hold and awaiting orders from the Diocese task force. Until then, all services and ministries may be found online through the church's Facebook page and website.
• Calvary Baptist Church: Pastor David Walker reports that services are now being held at the church, which is located at 285 Magnolia St. Seating is spaced out so as to keep with the social distancing rules. Services may also be watched online, for those wishing to remain at home.
