Local DEC awards seven scholarships

The Jefferson County Democratic Executive Committee (DEC) has awarded scholarships to seven local students who graduated from high school in 2024 and are continuing their post-secondary education. Presentation of the awards took place at the DEC's annual “Beat the Heat” event on Tuesday evening, July 9, at the Monticello Opera House. The meeting was called to order by Gladys Roann-Watson, chair of the Jefferson County DEC. After the Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance led by Kent Watson, members and guests enjoyed an open buffet.
