Local newspapers wins awards

Although the primary focus of the local newspapers is not necessarily to win awards, but more so to bring the news to the readers in a complete, compelling, fair and factual way. Gaining recognition for those efforts can be a rewarding way to validate the efforts of the local news team. During the recent Florida Media Conference, hosted by the Florida Press Association, in Sarasota, Fla., The Madison County Carrier and Madison Enterprise Recorder, along with sister publications The Jefferson Journal, The Monticello News,The Riverbend News were recognized for excellence in various categories during the Florida Weekly Newspaper Awards Luncheon on Friday, July 21. From the thousands of entries from across the state, the local publications won 37 awards, with 10 first place awards, in various categories.
