Jefferson County Fire Rescue (JCFR) recently received the Capital Regional Medical Center Sepsis Award this year. Trenton Skiver and Cameron Allen were presented with an award on Monday, May 17, during National EMS Week.
Gail Dunmyer called the JCFR when her 94-year-old mother seemed not to be doing so well. Paramedics Skiver and Allen responded to her house and determined that the patient needed to be transported to the emergency room with the possibility of having sepsis.
Thanks to Skiver and Allen’s extensive training, Dunmyer’s mother was treated effectively and efficiently. As a result of their actions, she has able to survive the septic shock.
JCFR Chief Derrick Burrus says he is proud of his paramedics for their rapid treatment and dedication to the community.
