The local Winn-Dixie here in Monticello is scheduled to get a pretty significant facelift soon. The Monticello Winn-Dixie, located at 1245 S. Jefferson St., is currently one of the biggest attractions in the small shopping center it's nestled in. However, it's starting to get a little outdated. It might still function and work as intended, but when things start to get older, they not only start to look a little worse for wear but also become more prone to breaking. So, to help keep the Winn-Dixie functioning well and make it look a little nicer, the owners of Winn-Dixie have decided to renovate it.
The renewal of the store is scheduled to begin on May 10, 2021. Don't worry, though. The store will remain open to patrons throughout the renewal, so you don't have to go elsewhere to get your groceries. The store is changing quite a bit, so the process will take about two months. It's scheduled to be complete and officially open its doors to the community on July 21.
As the store is scheduled for a complete remodel, they'll be adding, fixing and expanding a lot. They will add new facade signage, a fresh, contemporary color palette and add modern store signage inside. They'll have a newly updated farm-fresh produce department, including an expanded selection of fruits and vegetables, as well as organic varieties. A new deli with expanded grab-and-go meal options, including sub sandwich assortments, fresh wraps and ready-made salads, will also be added. Another addition to help with food plans will be a wide assortment of easy lunch and dinner options, including a hot bar with rotisserie chicken and a wing bar with eight favorite varieties. For those that love sweets and bread, they'll also be adding an extended bakery department with new self-service doughnut and bread selections, which will be made fresh daily.
The above-mentioned additions and updates are just a few of the things they'll be adding and changing to make our Winn-Dixie a greater asset to the community. So be on the lookout for construction to start, it may be a little annoying at first, shopping during construction, but the outcome will be a beautiful new space with lots of new features that will help our community thrive!
