Locals climb Mt. Kilimanjaro

Rarely, however, does the day break the way it did in 2023 for Monticello resident Joy Delaney and her son Sam. They saw the first rays of Christmas sun from the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro! It wasn't an adventure they had on a bucket list, or even really imagined doing, ever. Nonetheless, they found themselves on a plane to Tanzania in the middle of December, headed to a base camp at the foot of Africa's highest mountain, where their 10-day climb would begin. Sam had been invited by his onetime college roommate, Tate, and his wife Sophia, who were seasoned mountain climbers. For
