Madge Boland McLeod

Madge Boland McLeod, age 96, was promoted to her heavenly home on Sunday, July 17, 2022, surrounded by her children. Madge was born December 25, 1925, to Joseph and Ethel Boland in Flint Rock, Fla., and was a lifelong resident of Wacissa. She attended and graduated from Jefferson County High School, where she also was one of the star players on the girls’ basketball team. She was employed at the Florida Department of Agriculture for 43 years. Madge was a lifelong member of Wacissa Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was an active member of the women’s ministry and sent cards and flowers to sick church members for over 12 years. Madge enjoyed life, laughing and sharing her love, and cooking delicious meals for her family and special church dinners. She was funny with a great sense of humor and never met a stranger. She loved her church, her church family and her earthly home. An open invitation to visit either was always given. Her personal relationship with Jesus Christ began in her early teen years. Throughout her life, her faith and trust in Jesus Christ Sustained her daily.
Survivors include four children, Vonda Gale Smith (Wayne) of Donalsonville, Ga., Mack McLeod (Deborah) of Wacissa, Sylvia Jane McLeod of Tallahassee and Joey McLeod (Patricia) of Tallahassee; siblings, Joy Howard (Tom) of Tallahassee and Charles Boland (Andrea) of Wacissa; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Bernice E. “Mac” McLeod, Sr., and three sisters, Hilda Cannon, Edna Harkness and Willie Gus Chancy.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Wacissa Pentecostal Holiness Church with a celebration of her homegoing immediately following at 11 a.m. The interment will be at Beth Page Cemetery in Wacissa with lunch immediately following at the Wacissa Pentecostal Holiness Church fellowship hall.
