
Madison and Jefferson superintendents seek to share three district positions

Madison and Jefferson counties sit adjacent to each other, with the Aucilla River in between. As rural counties in North Florida, their relatively small school systems face some similar challenges. The Florida Legislature identifies both as fiscally constrained counties, and each can struggle to staff their schools from a limited pool of local candidates. Among Florida's eight least populated counties, Jefferson currently reports around 16,000 residents, while Madison has around 19,000.
