
Man charged with commissioner’s death set to plea

A plea hearing has been scheduled later this month in the case of the man charged with causing the death of Commissioner Stephen Walker in 2023.
Taylor Fain Searcy, who is charged with manslaughter by driving under the influence and vehicular homicide, is scheduled to appear before second Judicial Circuit Judge J. Layne Smith in the Wakulla County Courthouse in Crawfordville for a plea and sentencing hearing at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 27.
Prior to Attorney Frederick M. Conrad filing an amended notice of plea and sentencing hearing on April 30, Searcy had been scheduled for trial, with jury selection scheduled to begin on May 19.
