
Man charged with Walker’s death sentenced to prison

The man charged with causing the vehicular death of Jefferson County Commissioner Stephen Walker in 2023 entered a negotiated agreement with the state earlier this week and received a shorter prison sentence than if he had gone to trial and been found guilty on all counts.
Taylor Fain Searcy, who was charged with counts of manslaughter by driving under the influence and vehicular homicide, appeared before 2nd Judicial Circuit Judge J. Layne Smith in the Wakulla County Courthouse in Crawfordville on Tuesday, May 27, and pleaded no contest to count 1, the manslaughter charge.
