Marvin Leslie Bishop, Sr., age 93, of Moultrie, Ga., passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2020, in Moultrie.
Born February 10, 1927, in Aucilla, Fla., Marvin was the fifth of five sons born to Isham Leonard and Georgia Suzannah Holland Bishop.
He graduated from Aucilla High School, graduating in his Navy uniform. He served in WWII, enlisting at 17 years old and all five of his brothers served at the same time during WWII. Upon serving in the Navy, he went on to college at his beloved University of Florida. After college, Marvin worked at Seaboard Railroad, then 20 years with Florida Power. After there, he went on to work with Talquin Electric and Tri-County Electric.
Marvin was one of eight people who organized the First National Bank of Monticello, Fla. He served on their board of directors for 15 years.
Throughout town, he was known as an astute businessman who owned and operated several businesses. He was the owner and broker of Bishop Realty in Monticello. He owned Bishop Mini Warehouses, in both Florida and Georgia, operated a Wholesale Gasoline Business and owned several convenience food stores.
Marvin was a Christian and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Moultrie. He was a family man who loved his family. He was married to Sandra Dalton Bishop for over 50 years. Having lived a long, full life, having seen and experienced a lifetime of memories, knowing the love of his family and friends, and knowing the love and grace of his heavenly father, saved by God's mercy and grace, thankful for it all, he is at home was Jesus.
He is survived by his sons, Marvin L. Bishop, Jr. and Ronald N. (wife: Marchell Bishop); and his grandson, R. Norris Bishop, Jr.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Dalton Bishop; and his older brothers: W.E. "Emerson" Bishop, Marion Lanson Bishop, Rex Carey Bishop, Sr., and Isham Leon "Pete" Bishop.

Arrangements are in the care of Cobb Funeral Chapel, of Moultrie, and Beggs Funeral Home, of Madison, Fla.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., on Friday, Aug. 7, at the Bishop Cemetery in Aucilla, with the Rev. Daryl Adams officiating.
Social distancing guidelines will be followed, and masks are recommended.
