Mary Reichert was granted her angel wings on July 4, 2020. She is leaving her devoted husband of 40 years, Charles Reichert from Monticello, Fla., along with her daughter Brenda Gramling (Jim) from Asheville, N. C.; brother, Ben Gant (Ernestine) from Webster, Fla.; stepdaughters: Geani Ortiz (Dennis) of Ponta Vedra Beach, Fla. and Karen Betts of Gainesville, Fla.; stepson, Karl Reichert (Gail) from Colorado; and many beloved nieces, nephews and grandchildren both from Florida and Texas.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Gertrude Gant, two sisters: Bea Gant and Mildred Gant Halstead and one brother, Leo Gant.
She was a Florida girl, raised in central Florida and graduating from Webster High School. Her loving husband nicknamed her “Shorty”… Shorty was on her high school basketball team. Go Mom!
She retired from Standard Oil Company as an administrative assistant in Jacksonville, Fla. After 32 years, she moved to Monticello. She spent a lot of time traveling out west. After slowing down, she spent a lot of time giving back to the community that she loved. In her later years she has been the recipient of her church families’ love. Her family can never thank you enough for your continued support.
A viewing was held on Tuesday July 7, at Beggs Funeral Home, Monticello. Mary will be transferred to Jacksonville to be laid to rest with her first husband. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to First United Methodist Church of Monticello.
