Rosa Richardson didn't expect to become the interim administrator at the Jefferson County Senior Citizen Center, but when they called, she answered.
Richardson is from Madison and originally worked for the Senior Citizen Council in Madison, but she retired in April of 2020. When Jefferson County Senior Citizen Center lost their administrator, they asked Richardson if she would fill in for the time being. She agreed to come in and fill the position and became the interim administrator.
For now, Richardson doesn't know how long she'll be there. She is just getting things ready for when they hire someone else to fill the position permanently. Richardson enjoys this line of work, though. "I'm compassionate about people who need assistance. Any people," Richardson said.
Richardson says that this is her field. Before working for the Senior Center, she worked as a social worker for many years.
It takes a caring heart to work in a field that helps others. In Richardson's case, she even came back to help after she was already retired. The community is lucky to have her, and we hope she enjoys her time in Jefferson County!
