Pitts was born in Wisconsin and mostly raised in the Duluth area of Minnesota, where she lived until she moved to Jefferson County around 34 years ago. While on vacation, she met her future husband in Madison, Fla., and she ended up moving here to get married; his family was originally from Jefferson County.
