Wichmann was born in Nashville, Tenn., and spent most of her childhood years traveling all over the country, even spending some years in the Caribbean. Eventually, her family ended up in Florida, and they settled in Tallahassee to be close to family. It was in Tallahassee that she graduated from high school as a part of the very first graduating class at Chiles High School. Wichmann, who enjoyed working with kids, decided to become a teacher.
