The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office recently became aware of a Jefferson County citizen, Monticello City Manager Kurt Mackiewicz, who may have been in possession of Child Pornography and had attempted to distribute it.
Based on evidence obtained during the initial investigation, probable cause was developed for a search warrant of Mackiewicz's residence and place of employment as city manager at the Monticello City Hall. The search warrants were executed on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, and during the execution of those warrants, additional evidence was discovered, which led to Mackiewicz’s arrest.
Mackiewicz has been charged with 10 counts of: F.S.S 775.0847(2) Possession or Promotion of Certain Images of Child Pornography. At the time of this release, he remains in the Jefferson County jail awaiting first appearance.
