The Monticello Karting and Motor Club (MKMC) will be holding their 2021 season opener race this Saturday, Jan. 23! The gates will open at 8 a.m., and the main races will begin around noon. Not only will there be a race, but they will also be presenting trophies to the winners of the finals from last year.
Multiple classes will be racing for the season opener. Kids carts, cadets and juniors, who run at 100 ccs, will run for the kids, and then the adults, racing in four-stroke and six-stroke engines, will go as well.
Once the gates open, there will be practice laps happening until the driver's meeting around 11 a.m. After the meeting, there will be a qualifying race, the pre-final and then the final. The qualifier determines where you start in the pre-final and then the pre-final determines your starting position in the final.
MKMC is located at 1765 Big Joe Rd. in Monticello. So, be sure to head out there on Jan. 23 to watch an excellent go-kart race! If you have any questions, you can call them at (850) 510-4188.
