While many small town downtowns are emptying out of businesses, Monticello is an exception to that as occupancy in our local business district is booming. In that atmosphere, Brianna and James Johnson recently selected Monticello as the place to open their new business. Many members of the Monticello Chamber of Commerce and the community at large dismissed the inclement weather to join in the celebration of another new business officially opening its doors with a ribbon cutting in front of Sweet Honeysuckle at 230 North Jefferson Street. While the first day of business was in June, this past August 22 was the official ribbon cutting attended by members of the Monticello Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce.
Some of the items featured are quality antique furniture, obtained from a variety of sources, as well as featuring items by veterans such as The General’s Hot Sauce (easily recognizable by the hand grenade shaped containers). Also featured is Kickin’ Cowboy BBQ Sauces, the Southern Lifestyle Company of Savanah, Ga., makers of an assortment of soaps, and Georgia Land and Cattle offering an assortment of sauces and condiments. Sweet Honeysuckle also offers consignment for members of the Monticello community.
Sweet Honeysuckle’s hours are Wednesday and Thursday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. They are closed Monday and Tuesday.
