My View – A bully at the bird feeder
There is a new bully on the block. He jealously guards his turf; blustering and fussing and attacking others. He is a big fat Mockingbird and he thinks our entire block is his turf and his alone.
He sits atop of a shepherd's hook bird feeder watching for any competitors. He starts his guard early, just as the sun rises.
There are interlopers galore and they each have a different strategy. The Titmice come in flocks. Usually from four to six appear early in the morning for their breakfast. We have numerous feeders; spaced far enough apart so Mr. Bully can't fly at them all. Each Titmouse gets a bite or two before they are run off.
