Nash Road truck stop set for hearing on Jan. 23

Whatever reprieve residents concerned about a mega truck stop coming to the southwest corner of U.S. 19 and Nash Road may have felt, it is about to end with the return of the project. In November, County Manager Shannon Metty informed the Jefferson County Commission that her expectation that the project would return for reconsideration by the end of year had been incorrect. “I lied,” Metty told the board on Nov. 6 about her previous assertion that the truck stop would likely return on Nov. 21. “They have a new counsel as of right now and it will be sometime next year before they return. I won’t mention it again until I have actual dates.” O
