The first week of October is National 4-H Week, and Jefferson County residents can join in many activities that are taking place to support the local 4-H program.
4-H is the youth development program of Florida Cooperative Extension, a part of the University of Florida IFAS and Florida A&M University. It's the nation’s largest youth development organization, with more than 7 million young people across America. In Jefferson County, more than 20 percent of eligible youth participate.
During National 4-H Week 2022, Jefferson 4-H is celebrating the theme “Opportunity 4All” through the statewide schedule. There was a welcome on Sunday, Oct. 2, a Back-to-School Broadcast on Monday, Oct. 3, and a Life, Liberty, and Livestock Club service project on Tuesday, Oct. 4.
Today, Wednesday, Oct. 5, is 4-H Spirit Day, so put on a green shirt, show your spirit on social media platforms, and be sure to tag @Florida4H.
On Throwback Thursday, Oct. 6, look on social media as Jefferson 4-H shares a few #Florida4H#Throwbacks from alumni! You can join in on the fun too by sharing a photo when you were in 4-H!
Friday, Oct 7., is Friends of 4-H Funday, with a celebration including parading the 4-H banner around town. The public is invited to join in to show their support of 4-H.
Saturday, Oct. 8, focuses on Growing Healthy in 4-H, and the local Working Soldiers 4-H Club will be learning and planting their own vegetable garden.
Jefferson County 4-H is open to all youth between the ages of 5 and 18 years old. To become a 4-H member or to volunteer, you can register online at https://v2.4honline.com/#/user/sign-in.
