
National Hurricane Center issues postmortem report on 2024 Helene

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) recently released a 107-page Tropical Cyclone Report on last year’s Category 4 Hurricane Helene, the deadliest and most devastating storm in the contiguous United States since Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
Helene, according to the NHC report, accounted for at least 248 fatalities and produced an estimated $78.7 billion in damage in the United States alone, not counting the deaths and destruction in other countries.
