After the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, many local businesses shut down, furloughing staff members and sending hundreds home without steady work. The community anxiously awaited a return to some-semblance of normal, many waiting for days, weeks or months to try and apply for new jobs or government assistance. Those lucky enough to keep their jobs worked through the pandemic, providing services in limited capacity to the community. As vaccines have continued to become more readily available to the public, and businesses resume service with lifted restrictions, it would seem as if there is a light at the end of the tunnel for many.
Even so, those who were laid off or let go due to the pandemic, and forced to stay home may find themselves wondering, “what's next?” as much confusion surrounds the prospect of rejoining the work-force after such a long and arduous ordeal. As government assistance returns to pre-pandemic amounts, many look now to the community, ready to jump back in wherever they can.
But where to start? Some companies that were open at the beginning of last year are no longer in business at all, and that may leave some to need to completely start fresh in their career paths, something that can be daunting. But as the community continues to open up, restaurants return to pre-COVID service, and businesses reopen, the good news is that there are plenty of opportunities to choose from for that fresh start.
Here in Monticello, as well as neighboring areas, there are several businesses with availabilities open. Here are just a few:
