New Animal Control Kennel should be up by Christmas

Some nine months after a citizen offered to donate $75,000 to the county for construction of a new shelter for impounded animals, the project is still in process, arousing frustration among some animal lovers, not least the person who offered the donation.
The issue of the animal shelter arose more or less spontaneously at a recent commission meeting, with several citizens expressing disheartenment over the matter and pressing for a new location for the shelter other than the one at the solid waste collection site off U.S. 19 South.
