New City Councilmembers sworn in

The Monticello City Council meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 2, wasn’t typical. The session marked not only the start of a new year, but also the departure of two long-serving public officials, as well as the installation or reinstallation of five others.
The two outgoing officials were Councilwoman Julie Conley and City Clerk Emily Anderson, who together dedicated 46 years of service to the city.
This breaks down to 22 years for Conley, who was city clerk from 1996 to 2004, a city councilwoman and once or twice mayor from 2004 to 2008, and again a councilwoman and sometimes mayor from 2014 to 2024.
