New city manager formally installed

Lazaro Aleman ECB Publishing, Inc.  Kurt Mackiewicz is now officially Monticello city manager, per the employment agreement the council approved recently. The agreement, which the city council okayed on Tuesday, May 6, is good for a year and sets an annual salary of $85,000, increasable by cost-of-living adjustments, “or other increases provided to non-represented employees.” The contract was retroactively effective April 3, when Mackiewicz actually assumed the managerial duties, right after the council selected him for the position. The contract calls for Mackiewicz’s initial year to be probationary, with an initial “check-in” evaluation set for three months after
