A new spirit of cooperation seems to be animating the relationship between the Jefferson County Commission and the school board.
The two governing boards recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that allows for the use of the high school building as an emergency shelter during a state of emergency.
“With this MOU, we will be able to work with the school board more cohesively during storms,” County Manager Shannon Metty said.
Per the agreement, the county and school board agree to work together and outline the specific duties of each in serving and protecting citizens. The agreement is good for three years and will
