Newspapers support literacy efforts in local schools

Two years ago, ECB Publishing, Inc. established a Newspapers in Education Program (NIE) and became a community partner with all of our local schools to support teachers and students across the curriculum. This is ECB Publishing's way of supporting educators' goals for reading proficiency, civic education, basic and advanced writing, critical thinking, real-world math skills and more. With the help of generous financial sponsors in our community, in the first year of our program we delivered more than 225 free copies of each issue of the Monticello News and Jefferson County Journal, every week to educators who asked to use them with their students.
