Most people don't ponder about what happens to the water they use after it makes its way down the drain, but with every flush of the toilet, there is a behind-the-scenes process that is set in motion, a process that many citizens have never thought twice about.
Most of Florida used septic systems until the 1980s, until more modern, environmentally—conscious sewer systems were put in place. These sewer systems not only benefit the consumer by whisking away waste so that the burden of disposal does not fall on the individual, they also benefit the environment – untreated wastewater can kill wildlife, destroy local ecosystems, contaminate
