O Come All Ye Faithful
CHRISTMASTIME 1942. As the story goes, a young boy named Bruce was to be the Wise Man from the East in a Christmas pageant at a rural church in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. On the night of the pageant, Bruce dressed in a long white gown and a purple cloak. In one hand he held a crown of yellow cardboard. In the other he carried an ornate kerosene lantern.
Bruce’s father loaded Bruce in the car, but the weather was cold and the car was old and uncooperative. It died at the end of the driveway. Try as he might, the father couldn’t get the car going again. Bruce was told that he would just have to miss the pageant, but Bruce wouldn’t hear of it. The car still wouldn't start, so
