Official removed from canvassing board because of anti-Amendment 4 vote

One of three commissioners who voted in favor of a resolution opposing a controversial amendment on abortion recently experienced blowback for his action.
The Jefferson County Commission voted on Sept. 12 to adopt an anti-Amendment 4 resolution at the request of a group of local residents. Amendment 4, one of six amendments currently on the general
alternate member on the canvassing board and appoint in his stead Deputy County Attorney Evan Rosenthal.
In requesting Hosford’s removal, the judge cited Florida Department of State election rules, which prohibit members of canvassing boards from actively endorsing political candidates or campaigns.
