After the inaugural fun of the Rodeo last October, sponsor John Evans shared the following statement with Monticello News: “We will be putting the smack-down in Monticello, Fla. again! I hope to see all my Jefferson County people next year!”
True to his word, the Old Glory PCA Rodeo is returning to Monticello for its second year running, and will be issuing said “smack-down” on Friday-Saturday, Oct. 20-21. It will be held once again at the UF/IFAS Extension Office, located at 2729 W. Washington St., in Monticello. At 5:30 p.m., the gates will open, and this year there is a special treat for the kiddies, with the introduction of “mutton bustin',” a mini rodeo designated for kids and sheep. The first 15 children to sign up for the mini-rodeo will be able to participate. Participation is first come first served, so get there early! This event will take place both nights, and kids who participated on Friday night may also sign up for Saturday.
The gates open at 5:30 p.m., and the Mutton Bustin' starts at 6:30 p.m. The official rodeo begins at 8 p.m. and audience members can look forward to over two hours of rodeo fun.
This year, there will be even more food vendors, and the festivities are sponsored by SE Roofing and Construction, LLC, WW Cattle, and G-Fast. Rodeo animals will be provided by BO Campbell Rodeo Productions, and the announcer will be featured by LMG Voice Productions. Admission is just $15 per person, and tickets are sold at the gate. Children five and under are free.
Come on out for a rodeo evening featuring bareback riding, steer wrestling, calf roping, saddle bronc, breakaway roping, team roping, steer dressing, barrel racing, bull riding and more! Saddle up, Monticello, and mark your calendars.
